1. Introduction
The Departments of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) and Electrical Engineering (EE) jointly organized a 9-Days Industry Ready PLC Workshop titled “Learn, Program, Automate” from 3rd to 14th October 2025 at the ARC Lab, DVSIET. The objective of the workshop was to bridge the gap between academic learning and industrial automation practices by providing students with hands-on exposure to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and their real-time applications.
2. Objectives of the Workshop
-To provide practical understanding of PLC architecture, hardware components, and ladder logic programming.
- To familiarize students with industrial automation systems and control techniques.
- To enhance problem-solving and programming skills relevant to modern industries.
To prepare students for industry-oriented careers in automation, process control, and embedded systems.
3. Workshop Content
The workshop covered the following major topics:
1. Introduction to PLC and its Industrial Applications
2. PLC Hardware and Interfacing
3. Ladder Logic Programming Concepts
4. Digital and Analog Input/Output Modules
5. Timers, Counters, and Sequential Control Systems
6. Hands-on Exercises on PLC Programming Software
7. Simulation and Troubleshooting
8. Mini Project: Designing an Automated Control System
4. Resource Persons

- Mr. Ankur Saxena (Assistant Professor, EE Department)
Both resource persons guided the students throughout the sessions, providing detailed theoretical explanations and practical demonstrations of PLC programming and automation processes.
5. Participants
The workshop witnessed active participation from B.Tech. students of ECE and EE departments (2nd, 3rd, and Final Year). A total of 20 students successfully completed the workshop and received certificates of participation.
6. Outcomes
- Students gained hands-on experience with industrial PLC systems and automation software.
- Enhanced understanding of logic-based control and system design.
- Improved technical skills relevant to industrial automation and embedded applications.
- Increased interest among students to undertake PLC-based projects and internships.
7. Feedback and Response
Participants expressed that the workshop was highly informative and practical, and helped them link theoretical concepts with industrial applications. Many students suggested organizing advanced-level PLC & SCADA workshops in the future.
8. Conclusion
The 9-Day Industry Ready PLC Workshop concluded successfully on 14th October 2025. The workshop achieved its objectives by equipping students with essential skills in industrial automation and control using PLCs. The Departments of ECE and EE express sincere gratitude to the Management and Dean and Director of DVSIET for their constant support and encouragement in organizing such skill-oriented training programs.
