The Department of Civil Engineering, DVSIET, Meerut organized an educational visit to Survey of India, Dehradun.
During the visit, the students learned about the Museum where collection, preservation, interpretation of the Heritage was displayed which is of artistic, cultural, or scientific significance for the education of the public domain. Students took a keen interest in observing the oldest GPS.
Senior Scientist Mr. Arun Kumar displayed the first Printed “Constitution of India” which was first printed in 1949 in the printing press of Survey of India, Dehradun (which was a proud moment for us). He also briefed various Archaeological aspects of SOI and showed Brick from the Ruins of the old Tidal observatory constructed in 1880 at Ross Island. There is also a traditional time clock which was installed in 1874 in memory of GRAVITY SCIENTIST JAMES PALLADIO BASE VI.
